Kansas City-based band PopSkull Rebels, founded in 2014, has once again struck a Rockabilly chord with their latest song “Big Mack Truck.” Frontman Doyle, the creative force behind the track, shares that the song is a tribute to the love and mystique of the trucking world. What started as vision for the love of trucking resulted in a Rockabilly Anthem.
Drawing inspiration from classic movies like “Smokey and the Bandit” and “Convoy,” Doyle found himself captivated by the allure of the open road and the adventure of trucking culture. These cinematic experiences ignited his creativity, eventually leading him to pen the heartfelt lyrics of “Big Mack Truck.” The song exudes a sense of freedom, camaraderie, and nostalgia that echoes the sentiments of those iconic films.
The recording process for “Big Mack Truck” was a collaborative effort that took place at Weights and Measures, with the talented Duane Trower engineering the session. This creative space provided the perfect atmosphere for the band to translate their passion and energy into the music.
